Preparation is key!

When most people decide to start a new project in their home, there are so many factors that will decide how long the project will take to complete and how stressful the project can be.

  • Design: Here we are just replacing furniture and accessories, giving a new look to your existing space.

  • Refresh: more decisions must be made. Your floor plan will remain intact, but we may be replacing appliances, fixtures, and painting.

  • Renovation: we might be completely gutting your space, getting new cabinets, plumbing, flooring…the list goes on!

No matter your project type, preparation is the most important part of any project.

With any project, our first step would be to have our consultation and hold a Design Starter Kit appointment. Here, we establish a repour and get a good feel of what you are looking for in your home project(s). We’ll discuss likes and dislikes so that our designers can get a vision for your dream home. You could get an idea of what we’d do with the design of your home. While this is just the first step, preparation starts during this stage. Our designers are preparing their thoughts with the types of furniture, cabinetry, tile, paint, and everything else that could go into the design of the space.

If we move into the full scope of the project, here’s where the nitty gritty begins. When we say preparation is key, it is because no project can run smoothly without preparation. The full-circle design falls into place, yet if we were to jump right into renovations, for example, in a kitchen, you’d be without full use of your kitchen for months or even a year, simply waiting for all of the supplies and pieces to come in.

Before starting the renovation, we want to ensure that all contractors are lined up and scheduled. Additionally, every piece that goes into the renovation needs to be on site. Every piece of flooring, cabinetry, countertops, appliances, and everything is there, ready to be installed.

If the preparation is done properly, your stress and displacement from the space in your home are minimized ten times over.
