It’s beginning to look a lot like the holidays! ….

Holiday Entertaining!…

It’s that time of year again, the time of year for entertaining, spending quality time with friends and family making memories! Just remember to keep your home healthy and happy throughout the holiday season! Follow these few simple tips to ensure your home is safe, functional, and, of course, beautiful.

1. Be careful not to overfill your outlets when decorating outside. Make sure to have enough amps!

2. Be mindful about the placement of your outdoor decorations. You do not want to tempt our furry friends and young children who could potentially injure themselves or break your beautiful decorations.

3. Keeping our beloved pets in mind, carefully select certain holiday plants such as poinsettias, which can be extremely dangerous. You may want to place these beautiful flowers in a spot where pets cannot reach them.

4. Think about the electrical outlets inside your home, as well! Keep your home happy and festive this holiday season by not overloading the electrical outlets!

5. Cord placement is also crucial! Not only can unsightly cords distract from your beautiful holiday decor, but they can cause unwanted trips and falls if not safely placed and appropriately secured.

6. Evaluate your space and accessories!

· How many guests will you be entertaining? Do you have enough seating?

· Can you eliminate a piece of furniture that would otherwise be unused to make room for a tree or holiday decoration?

· If you plan on entertaining a large group, consider rearranging your entertaining areas or eliminating and replacing furniture with rental tables and chairs.

· If you have several overnight guests for the season, come up with a solution like placing the tree in an alternative area. A screened porch or a lesser-used part of the home can become the centerpiece for Christmas morning presents!

7. Be very mindful of the air quality of your home.

· Have your fireplace inspected to ensure there is not any unwanted carbon monoxide buildup.

· Make your guests feel at home by respecting any allergies and consider alternatives to a fresh tree and other scents.

· Be careful in mixing tons of fragrances. Too many scents at once are cause for sensory overload.

8. Our final tip: When digging through your attic and storage areas for decor to use this year, it may be time to part from it if you didn’t use it last year! Having a healthier, happier home does not exclude having a safer, cleaner attic!
